Thermage CPT Non-Surgical Facelift is a non-invasive skin tightening treatment that is designed to eliminate fine lines, wrinkles and skin sagging that are associated with ageing. It is also known as Thermal Lifting or Thermal Plasty, where it uses a controlled radio frequency to tighten and contour the skin without the need for surgery or injections.

The term “CPT” stands for Comfort Pulse Technology. This advanced technology makes the entire Thermage procedure experience more comfortable for the patient. With CPT, the Thermage radio frequency are broken down into a series of micro-pulses, instead of a one continuous unbroken pulse. Because of this innovation, the doctor can make more passes over the tissues of up to 12 times, as compared to the maximum of just 5 passes of older generation of Thermage. Also, CPT delivers the pulses with vibration, which reduces the sensation of heating experienced by patients.

2. Is there any specific preparation that needs to be done before the treatment?

Unlike surgical facelift where you may need to undergo several laboratory tests and blood work, having a Thermage CPT treatment does not require any preparations.

Also, you do not have to follow a special diet or apply certain creams before the procedure. Just come in with a clean slate free of make-up or any other cosmetic products on your skin.

3. Which parts of the body does Thermage CPT work on?

Thermage CPT can treat any parts of the body but among the most commonly treated areas are the face and neck. It works well on the brow areas, tightens the jowls, lifts the face and sagging neck. It helps firm and tone the tummy area. In addition to that it also works on the thighs, buttocks, above the knees, hands, and even your underarms.

4. How does the Thermage CPT work?

The radio frequency that is emitted by Thermage CPT uniformly heats the collagen in the deeper layers of the skin. It is the only skin tightening treatment that reaches far into the deep layers of the skin, which excites the collagen in this layer to tighten and reduces the laxity of the skin. We all know that collagen production decreases, as we grow old.

It also works by stimulating the production of new collagen that makes the skin become stronger, healthier and more flexible. Plus, the advancement of Thermage CPT allows for more enhanced results.

5. How does the procedure feel like?

Even though it is a non-invasive procedure, you may ask, considering it uses radio frequency, does the procedure hurt and is it painful. While it heats the deeper skin layers, it also simultaneously protects the outer layers of the skin with a cooling spray. The procedure uses a machine that will give you a feeling of cooling sensation. After which, you will feel a slight and brief heated sensation. It is then finished with another wave of cool air.

Also, your doctor will regularly monitor the heat that you will be receiving. So, you do not have to worry about taking too much heat during the entire procedure.

6. How long is the recovery period?

With Thermage CPT there is no need for any down time because you can immediately return to normal activities right after the procedure. This is even considered to be the perfect lunchtime procedure. There may be some visible redness but it will shortly disappear after the treatment.

There is no particular aftercare that needs to be done, you just have to put on additional protection such as sunscreen.

7. How many treatments do I need and how long until I see results with Thermage CPT?

We must say the results will vary from person to person depending on the condition of your skin and other factors. It’s best to come in for a consultation for further analysis by Dr Tan.

You will notice subtle, natural-looking results with tighter, smoother skin, softened fine lines and wrinkles and an over-all younger looking appearance. And the results can last from six months to two years, depending on the skin’s natural condition.
